Energy is every movement from simple to hard. Some types of energy are fossil fuels, biomass, geothermal energy, wind, hydro power, nuclear, and solar energy. 93 million miles from our planet, Earth, is a huge ball of gas that sends out enormous amounts of energy each and every day. Almost all of our energy comes from that big ball of gas, called the Sun. The energy from the Sun is called solar energy. When you look up at the clouds in the sky, what do you see? Light, energy, rays shooting down to Earth. Well, these are light rays from the Sun to the Earth and sometimes you can't even see the light rays! The Sun is much, much, more powerful than you think it is!
Why Is The Sun Important?
We need the Sun. Without it we wouldn't be alive. The Sun always gives off huge amounts of energy everyday, but most of the energy goes off to space and just a bit goes to Earth. When you go outside on a morning or afternoon, the world is filled with light, without the Sun the world would be dark.Sunlight changes into heat when it hits things, so without the Sun we wouldn't survive the coldness. When the Sun hits an object, the atoms in the object stir up, the faster they stir the more energy they produce, that is why dark colored cars are always warmer than light colored cars. The Sun can dry things like clothes and heat things like water. Plants use light from the Sun to grow in the state of photosynthesis. Animals eat plants, and we eat plants and animals, so eventually we get the energy and nutrients. The Sun is what starts the water cycle and that is a lot of work to be doing. Fossil fuels are made from ancient plant and animals which can live because of the Sun.Think of a world with no solar energy, no light, no heat, no animals, no plants, no food, no cars, no electricity, no T.V and computer games, and worst of all, no me, no you, no anybody or anything. Solar energy is renewable, it lasts for thousands, if not so millions of years. Even though the Sun is very good and very useful, sometimes it can mean harm. If there was too much heat and energy from the Sun, ice in the North and South poles could melt and harm the animals and plants there and increase the ocean level.
Why Use It?
Everyday the Sun gives us 10x more energy than is stored in all the world's reserves of coal and oil. Solar energy does not pollute the Earth like fossil fuels do, and the pollution from the fossil fuels turns into acid rain which is very harmful to all living things and some non-living things too. You should use the sun's power whenever you can.
How People Used Energy
About 3,000 years ago a king's palace in Turkey was warmed by water heated by the Sun. Early farmers also preserved their food by drying them in the Sun, later on solar cells were created in the 1880s to change sunlight into electricity. Right now solar cells are not very common, but are still more common than they were in the 1880s.
What Do People Think Of It?
Not many people use solar energy because solar machines are very expensive, but I think that we should still use it. To save the Earth and to conserve energy! If you've never done it, why not try. The world is full of possibilities!!!
